
Biography
The mark of the hand embraces Helen Vaughan's philosophy on creating art. With her original formal training in Textile Design, pattern, rhythm and texture, and their relationship with colour, is embodied in her work. Sgraffiato or the scratched mark is her signature which forms a red thread running through her craft.

History
1987-2000 This period was spent working as a commercial designer in fashion and decor, developing skills in painting and printmaking, and teaching
1999 Joined the Sharon Albert Ceramic studio
2000 Established a Ceramic Art Studio in Observatory, Cape Town, where innovative techniques incorporating mixed media and printmaking are actively pursued
