Biography
Born
23 November 1957, Cape Town, South Africa.
"Multi-media artist who works as a painter, sculptor and printmaker. Loves to experiment with different media and techniques. Very interested in the african culture and is strongly influenced. Lately experimenting with humor in paintings"
Training: Education And Employment
1978 Matriculated at Paulus Joubert Sen.
Secondary School, Paarl.
1980 Obtained a Primary Teachers Diploma
[P.T.D.majoring in art] at Dower Training College,
Port Elizabeth.
1980 Worked with artists: Amos Langdown
And Peter Clarke.
1981 Started teaching career - Paarl.
1989 Studied Part time for a B.A. Fine Arts
Degree at SA [majoring in painting]-
1990 Attended sculpture workshop - Daljosaphat Art Foundation, Paarl
Profile
Lives and work in Paarl - Full time Art teacher and part time Artist for seventeen years. Teaching career started in 1981 at Magnolia Primary School. Actively involved in promoting the visual arts in the local community. Appointed convenor of the schools arts project. Involved in organising workshops and exhibitions for children's art and young artists. Founder member of the EM'Bezweni Art Group EAG [Solomon Siko, Selwin Pekeur, Kerwin Cupido, Dylan Dinyssen, and Alby Bailey] establish in Paarl [October 1994]. Works from studio at home. Full-time professional artist since June 1998.
