Resident in Cape Town since 1981, Catherina Pagani is a practising ceramist and creates work of a distinct nature. Initially designing and producing ranges of slip cast and hand-built items, she has specialised in wood firing her stoneware sculptural work and has made an unusual contribution to the diversity of South African artistic expression in ceramics. The building methods, the finishes and the kiln she uses have been developed with a specific vision of the results.
Catherina was awarded for her sculptural work and was selected for the 2011 International Ceramics Competition in Kino, Japan. The work Map was awarded the Expression prize at the 2013 Ceramics SA (Western Cape) Regional Exhibition in November 2012.
